Taxis and airports


To travel to an airport with your taxi, you'll need an Prepaid Account or an approved Commercial Account and a working tag. You can't access the airport Taxi Primary Holding Area with a pass. 

Airport charges will appear on your account statement as 'Melbourne Airport'.

Drivers for ridesharing companies, such as Uber, OLA and DiDi, can cover toll road travel with a Prepaid or Postpaid Account.

    When overdue payments on a Linkt account aren't made, your account will be suspended. This means you won't be covered for your toll road travel.

    If you travel with a tag, it will beep 4 times to notify you that your account is suspended. You can also log in to check your account status at any time.

    Suspended accounts and toll invoices

    If you travel while your account is suspended, you'll receive a toll invoice for any trips you make during that time, which includes additional admin fees. Toll invoices can take up to 4 weeks to arrive in the mail. 

    You can transfer a toll invoice to your account or pay for the toll invoice

    It's important to pay for your toll invoice before the due date so that you avoid being charged further fees. If you don't pay by the due date, you'll receive a final toll invoice reminder, which includes an increased admin fee. 

    If the toll invoice remains unpaid by the due date, the vehicle's owner may be issued with an infringement notice from Victoria Police. This includes an infringement penalty charge of $184.92 for each day of travel listed on the original toll invoice.

    Taxis can access Melbourne Airport holding areas with an active Prepaid Account or Commercial Account and a working tag. 

    To access the airport taxi holding areas, you need to make sure: 

    Access airport areas with a tag 

    You need a tag to access taxi pick-up and drop-off areas at the airport. Make sure your tag is installed and working with our tag health check

    Order or replace a tag: 

    Keep your account active
