In NSW, account backdating is only available for travel on Eastern Distributor, Hills M2, Lane Cove Tunnel, WestConnex M4 and Westlink M7. If you’ve travelled on EastLink in Victoria or Cross City Tunnel, Sydney Harbour Bridge & Tunnel or M5 South-West Motorway in NSW, account backdating is not available.

    How do I open an account?

    You can open an account online or via the Linkt app. You'll need the following information::

    • contact details including your name, address, email and phone number
    • licence plate number, make and model of at least one vehicle
    • credit card details for making an opening payment to your account^^

    For ongoing payments, you can use an accepted debit or credit card^^ or set up a direct debit from your bank account.

    ^ When you pay via an accepted credit card or debit card, you may be charged a Payment Card Surcharge.

    Do I need a credit card to open an account?

    Yes, you'll need a credit card for the opening payment. Once that's done, you can choose to set up a direct debit from your bank account for ongoing payments. Find out more about payment options.

    To make sure your account is always ready for travel, you can set up auto top-up for ongoing payments.

    How soon can I travel after opening an account?

    For a Tag or Tagless account, your tag will take 7-10 working days to arrive, but you can start travelling right away if you register your vehicle to your account.

    Normally, a video matching fee is charged when you travel without your tag. For new customers, we'll credit any video matching fees for 14 days from the day you open your account. Credits may take up to 4 weeks to appear.

    When your new tag arrives, make sure it's installed correctly to avoid incurring any future video matching fees.

    An account lets you travel on on any toll road in Australia, as long as you have a correctly installed and functioning tag. The cost of each trip will be charged directly to your account.

    How many vehicles can I have on my account?

    You can link as many vehicles as you like to your account.

    When a car linked to your account travels without a correctly installed tag, you'll be charged a video matching fee per toll point.  You can reduce your fees by making sure every vehicle has a correctly installed tag.

    A tag can be moved between vehicles of any vehicle class. You can also order extra tags so that each of your vehicles has one.

    Using rental vehicles on toll roads

    If you're renting a vehicle, please check with your rental company first about how to pay for planned or unplanned toll road travel.

    Different rental companies offer various payment options to pass toll charges on to their customers. 

    Some rental companies offer a direct tolling option, which automatically debits your credit card every time you use any toll road. Other companies require you to purchase a toll day pass for each day of toll road use.

    Often, your rental vehicle will already be linked to a toll account managed by your rental company. The rental company’s toll account may override any toll payment arrangement you make with us, and may result in unexpected charges or penalties being applied by your rental company.
