    If you travelled on a Brisbane toll road more than 9 days ago and don’t have an account or pass, you should receive a toll invoice in the mail. It can take up to 4 weeks after you travel for a toll invoice to be sent.

    Toll invoices are issued to the registered owner of the vehicle and will include the cost of your tolls plus additional fees.

  • In the last 6 - 9 days Start over

    If you travelled in the last 6 – 9 days you can save on additional fees by opening an account and backdating* its start date to cover your travel. Alternatively, you can wait for a toll invoice to arrive in the mail; it may take up to 4 weeks to be issued from your travel date.

    If you already have an account, you can pay for travel made in the last 9 days by adding the licence plate number of the vehicle to your account. Just backdate its start date.

    *Your Tag, Tagless or Commercial account can cover trips made up to 9 days ago on all toll roads in Queensland, NSW and Victoria, except for the Sydney Harbour Bridge & Tunnel (NSW), or EastLink (Victoria).

    If you travelled in the last 5 days you can save on additional fees by opening an account or buying a pass and backdating* the start date to include your trip. Buy a pass if you’re an occasional traveller, or open an account if you’re a regular traveller.

    *With your account you can cover trips made up to 9 days ago in Queensland, NSW and Victoria, except for the Sydney Harbour Bridge & Tunnel (NSW), or EastLink (Victoria). To pay for past travel on these roads, you'll need to buy a separate pass.

  • About tolls and fees

    About tolls and fees

    Tolls are the price charged for travelling on a toll road. The cost is calculated electronically, based on when and where you travel, and your vehicle class. 

    Fees are separate charges that may apply in certain circumstances and depend on the type of account or pass you have. The price of most passes (excluding the Visitor’s Pass) is inclusive of all tolls and fees.

    Pay for what you use or a trip cap

    When you drive on toll roads, you'll either pay for the distance and roads you use or the trip cap, whichever is cheaper. A trip cap is the maximum toll price for a single, continuous trip on CityLink. Peak and off-peak trip caps apply to heavy commercial vehicles.

    Toll invoice admin fees

    If you travel without a pass or account, we’ll send the vehicle’s owner a toll invoice. A toll invoice includes the unpaid toll and an administration fee. If the toll invoice remains unpaid, we’ll send a final toll invoice with an additional administration fee. 

    The easiest way to avoid toll invoices is to open an account.

    GST in toll prices and trip charges

    Goods and services tax (GST) is a government tax that’s added to goods and services in Australia. GST is calculated on each individual toll road trip. 

    We include GST fees in our toll charges, as they appear on:

    • Trip history data exported from our website

    How to transfer a toll invoice to an account

    You can transfer a toll invoice to your Linkt account. Once it's in your account, you can pay using your account balance or preferred payment method. 

    If your account is suspended, you’ll need to reactivate your account before you can complete the transfer.

    You can also transfer your toll invoice to another toll operator. This includes when your Linkt account is in a different state to where the toll invoice was issued.

    Transfer options for each account

    Prepaid Accounts
    Before you can transfer a toll invoice to a Prepaid Account, your account balance needs to have enough funds for you to pay for it. We’ll display a recommended top up amount to help ensure your balance can cover any future toll road trips you make.

    Postpaid Accounts
    When you transfer a toll invoice to your Postpaid Account, the invoice amount gets added to your unpaid balance. This balance then gets taken from your card or bank account at the end of the day, just as it would if you made a trip.

    Commercial Accounts
    When you transfer a toll invoice to your Commercial Account, the outstanding amount will be added to your monthly invoice.

    Add, remove or update vehicles

    You can add, remove or update your vehicle details at any time online or on the Linkt app.

    If your vehicle's tag or licence plate number are linked to your account, you’ll be ready to travel on any toll road in Australia. 

    If you travel without a tag and your vehicle is registered to your account, your trips are charged to your account with a video matching fee. If you travel while you're waiting for a tag, we'll credit the video matching fees to your account for up to 14 days from the date you ordered the tag.

    About toll invoices

    A toll invoice is a bill for unarranged toll road travel in Australia. It’s sent to the postal address of the vehicle’s registered owner within 4 weeks of your travel date and includes the cost of your trip plus an admin fee.

    Final toll invoice

    		 $27.75

    You may receive a toll invoice if you travel on a toll road:

    • Without a valid pass or account
    • While your account is suspended
    • In a vehicle that’s not linked to your account

    If you receive a toll invoice, it's important to pay it by the due date to avoid further fees.

    When you open a Linkt account or buy a pass and travel on a toll road, your tolls are charged directly to your account or covered by your pass. Paying for your toll road trips in this way means you won't have to wait for your toll invoice to arrive in the mail or pay the admin fees associated with a toll invoice.

    If you received a toll invoice but you weren’t driving

    If you received a toll invoice and you didn’t travel on a toll road, it might be because:

    If your vehicle or licence plates were stolen, you can submit a toll invoice enquiry online. Make sure to attach a copy of the police report, and we'll be in touch if we need more information from you.

    If someone else was driving, you can transfer the invoice to that person. This is called a toll invoice nomination and can only be done twice per invoice.

    Transfer the whole invoice to someone else

    When you nominate another person for your toll invoice, the person you nominate will be sent a new invoice and become responsible for paying it. You'll need the full invoice number as well as the details of the person you want to transfer it to.

    1. Melbourne: nominate another driver in Melbourne
      Sydney: nominate another driver in Sydney
      Queensland: nominate another driver in Queensland

    2. Search for the invoice by toll invoice number and select 'Nominate another driver'
    3. Make sure the invoice details are correct and select 'Continue'
    4. Enter your details, select the reason for the transfer and select 'Individual' or 'Business'
    5. Select 'Continue'
    6. Enter the details of the person you're nominating and select 'Continue'
      (make sure to check the Terms and Conditions box)
    7. Confirm the details you've entered are correct and select 'Nominate now'
    8. Print or email the receipt of your intended transfer
      Please note, the other person will have to accept the transfer before it can be completed.

    Transfer part of the invoice to someone else

    If there are multiple trips on your toll invoice and you were driving for some of them but not all of them, you can nominate the driver of the trips that weren't yours by submitting a toll invoice nomination statement form. Alternatively, contact our customer care team and we can help.

    You’ll still need to pay the balance owing for the trips you made by the due date.
