How claims work

If your vehicle or property has been damaged whilst traveling on a Transurban road, you may be entitled to make a claim for compensation.

Claims that aren't accepted

We don’t normally accept claims for:

  • Damage resulting from the actions of other third parties (i.e other road users that may leave or discard objects, for example windscreen chips from other road users)
  • Damage due to debris (if it occurs in the normal course of driving)
  • Damage resulting from criminal actions
  • Damage resulting from extreme weather events
  • Matters already the subject of an insurance claim

Claim process

Timeframe for submission

Claims should be submitted within 30 days from the date of the incident.  Transurban will use reasonable endeavours to process all valid and properly received claims within 30 days of receipt.

Successful claims

If your claim is successful, a payment will be sent to your nominated bank account. This usually takes about 2–3 weeks after the assessment is complete and a decision is made.

You may be asked to sign a document that states that you will not make any further claims against Transurban or its contractors regarding your claim.

Unsuccessful claims

If your claim is unsuccessful, our decision is final and we will not reconsider your claim.  However, you may pursue your claim through the civil courts or contact your insurer.
