Adding a vehicle after you've travelled on a toll road

Already taken a toll trip and noticed your vehicle isn’t on your account yet? No problem.

You can still avoid a toll invoice by adding your vehicle within the timeframes below. Your recent trip will then be covered by your account.

How long you have depends on which toll road you have travelled on.

Sydney

  • Most toll roads: 10 days
  • Sydney Harbour Bridge & Tunnel: Vehicles must be added before travel to be covered. You can buy a Sydney pass within 3 days of travelling to avoid receiving a toll invoice.

Melbourne

  • Citylink & West Gate Tunnel: 9 days
  • EastLink: 3 days

Brisbane

  • All toll roads: 9 days

Borrowed someone else's vehicle?

If you're driving on a toll road in a vehicle that's not yours, remember to add an end date. That way you won't end up paying someone else's tolls after you've given the vehicle back.

Once the end date passes, the vehicle will be automatically removed from your account. Easy as.

Sold your car?

Make sure you remove it from your account as soon as you can. This quick step helps prevent tolls from the new owner being charged to you.

Received a toll notice for a vehicle you don't own?

If a toll notice isn't for you, you can nominate the person responsible. This transfers the invoice to the correct driver.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can I add a vehicle after travelling on toll roads?

Yes. You can add a vehicle after you’ve travelled, as long as you do it within the timeframes listed in this article. How long you have depends on which toll road you travelled on.

  • What happens if my licence plate number is incorrect?

If your licence plate number isn’t correct and you don’t have a tag, your trips won’t be charged to your account, and you may receive a toll invoice. Keeping your vehicle details up to date helps avoid this.

  • Can I update my licence plate number?

Licence plate numbers can’t be edited. To change this, you’ll need to remove the vehicle from your account and add it again with the correct details.
