Add a temporary or borrowed vehicle to an account
There may be times when you need to travel on a toll road using a vehicle that’s not yours. This could be because:
- You have borrowed a vehicle from friends or family
- You’re using a courtesy vehicle
- You’re using a rental or ride-share vehicle. If you’re renting a car or using a car share scheme, check with the company first – many companies have tolling arrangements in place for their customers.
You can cover your toll road travel with the following options.
If you have a Linkt account with a tag
Put your tag in the borrowed vehicle, making sure it’s correctly installed. Your travel will be charged to your Linkt account.
If you have a Linkt account without a tag
If you have a tagless account, add the licence plate of the borrowed vehicle to your Linkt account and set a start and end date. Your travel will be charged to your Linkt account you will be charged a video matching fee. Find out how to do this online or using the Linkt app using the instructions below.
- Log in to your account
- Select 'Vehicles' from the menu
- Select 'Add a vehicle' and follow the prompts
- To specify your travel dates enter your 'Start date' and 'Start time' for your temporary vehicle. It's important to also add an end date, so you don't pay for someone else's travel. You will need to toggle the 'end date' switch in order to do this (pictured).
After the end date, the vehicle will be automatically removed from your account
- Open the Linkt app
- Select 'Account' from the menu
- Select 'Vehicles'
- Select 'Add vehicle' and enter your vehicle details
