Using your Linkt Rental Account
If you have a commercial account, please see the Linkt Commercial Account information.
If you’ve rented a vehicle through Apex, Avis, Budget, Europcar or Sixt, there’s nothing you need to do. When you travel on a toll road in your rental vehicle, we’ll use the details you provided to your rental agency in your rental agreement, and automatically set up a Linkt Rental Account for you. It’s that simple.
You’ll receive an email or SMS from us about your Linkt Rental Account, with all the information you need.
How it works
- Travel on any toll road in Australia in your rental vehicle.
- We charge the cost of the toll trips you make to the credit or debit card you provided to your rental agency, plus a $3.30 fee for each day that you use a toll road.
- Log into your account using the details we sent you to track your trips, access your payment details and download your statements (helpful hint: your username is your account number. Follow the reset my password prompts if you haven’t logged in before or have forgotten your password).
- If you haven’t received an email or SMS from us, or can’t access the login details we sent you, have your rental agreement number ready and we’ll be able to assist you. Your rental agency can confirm your rental agreement number.
The description you'll see on your bank statements will be a charge from Linkt. Trips will usually be processed within 3 to 5 days of travel. Once all of your trips have been processed, we’ll close this account for you.
How does the Linkt Rental Account relate to my personal Linkt account?
This account covers toll road trips taken in rental vehicles only. The Linkt Rental Account is created in addition to any personal Linkt account or pass you may already have.
The fine print
Rental agencies that have an arrangement with us to use the Linkt Rental Account are Apex, Avis, Budget, Europcar or Sixt. For more information, read the terms and conditions.
Using your existing Linkt account
You’ll automatically be set up with a Linkt Rental Account to cover your toll road travel, as part of your rental agreement with Apex, Avis, Budget, Europcar or Sixt.
However, if you’d prefer to use your existing Linkt Tag account, make sure you bring and install your tag in the rental vehicle before you travel.* In this case your existing Linkt Tag account will cover the toll charges and your Linkt Rental Account will not be used. You will not be charged twice for toll road travel in your rental vehicle.
Just remember to remove your tag from the vehicle when you return it back to the rental agency to avoid toll road charges that aren’t yours.
We don’t recommend adding your rental vehicle’s details, or attempting to backdate, to an existing Linkt account, pass, or LinktGO as this is likely to be overridden by your rental agency’s tolling arrangement.
*If your tag is not installed correctly or your tag does not beep as you travel through a toll point, your Linkt Rental Account will automatically cover your toll road travel.
