Frequently asked questions

  • How long does a payment take to reach the customer's account?

If a customer is topping up at a retail outlet, the payment can take up to 48 hours to reach their account, provided there are no system downtimes.

  • How much time does the customer have to pay their tolls if they don’t have an account?

If a customer has travelled on a toll road without paying for the trip before travelling, they have three days to pay their tolls.

If it's been longer than three days since travel, please don't take payment. You can advise the customer they can backdate their travel by up to 9 days if they open an account. And the great news is the customer will also be covered for future travel. The customer can find out more at linkt.com.au.

  • If the customer's account is suspended, what do they need to do?

The customer needs to pay for any outstanding trips and also top up their account, to ensure it has enough funds to cover future travel.

Some accounts require a minimum account balance. For customers who travel a lot, this amount might be too low to cover their toll road usage. In these cases the customer may want to consider increasing their minimum account balance to avoid suspension and unwanted fees.

  • What happens if a customer doesn't make a payment after travelling on the road?

If the customer doesn't pay their tolls within three days of travel, the owner of the registered vehicle may receive a toll notice in Sydney or toll invoice in Brisbane or Melbourne for the outstanding tolls. This notice or invoice also includes an administration fee.

It's important that customers pay their tolls within three days to avoid extra fees.

  • Can the customer use their Linkt account or pass in a different state?

The customer can use their Linkt Tag account, Tagless account or Sydney Pass Australia-wide. However, it's important the licence plate number of their vehicle has been added to their account or pass to avoid extra fees.

If the customer has a Tagless account or Sydney Pass, or if the tag on their Tag account can't be detected, we will check if the licence plate number is registered on an account or pass in our system. So it's important their licence plate number is registered before heading off on their road trip.

Toll Credit passes can only be used on Brisbane roads. Melbourne passes (Weekend Pass, 24 Hour Pass and 24 Hour Tulla Pass) can only be used for travel on CityLink. If the customer wants to use their pass to travel in other states, recommend they buy a Sydney Pass at linkt.com.au. This will ensure their travel is covered Australia-wide.

  • What are the toll prices for travelling on Linkt toll roads?

Toll prices vary depending on the number of toll points passed or distance travelled, as well as the customer's vehicle class.

To calculate their tolls, customers can use our online toll calculator
