Stay safe from scams

Scams are getting harder to spot.

That’s why it’s important to take time to do a quick cyber safety check of your Linkt account.

Here are three tips can help keep you safer online.

3-step cyber safety check

  1. Use different passphrases for each account
If you’re still using the same password for a few accounts, you’re at greater risk of being scammed.

Consider using password manager tools on your smartphone to create and save individual passphrases.

Want to know if your passwords have been compromised and which websites you use have been breached? The Australian Cyber Security Centre recommends checking by visiting the have I been pwned website.

  2. Only use a brand’s communication channels
Not sure if something’s real? Instead of clicking on any suspicious emails or links, you should always log in and check your account on the Linkt app or website.

This is because scammers can create emails that look very similar to those from Linkt, including logos and wording. Some scam websites can even mimic the log in experience of a Linkt web page.

By logging in to your account via the Linkt website or app, you ensure you're accessing secure information. Push notifications and in-app messages from the Linkt app are harder for scammers to fake, and apps generally give you a more secure experience.

  3. Keep your software updated
It’s tempting to skip updates on your mobile or PC. But by regularly updating your software, you will ensure you have new security patches for your browser and operating system to protect against the latest scams.
