Get a sneak peek at the West Gate Tunnel at the upcoming Discovery Day on Sunday 16 November.
This is your once-in-a-lifetime chance to run or walk through the tunnel before it opens to drivers in December.
Choose between an 8km run or a 2.5km walk and explore part of the new underground route beneath Yarraville and the elevated road connecting to the tunnel.
And enjoy a family-friendly celebration at Yarraville Gardens with live entertainment, food trucks, a kids' zone and the West Gate Tunnel driver simulator.
Free shuttle buses will run regularly from Footscray and Yarraville train stations to Yarraville Gardens on the day.
Spots are limited. Registrations open from Friday 24 October.
All proceeds from the run will support two local charities:
- Community Bike Hub - promoting bike access and education across Melbourne's west
- West Welcome Wagon - supporting asylum seekers and refugees as they rebuild their lives
When it opens in late 2025, the West Gate Tunnel will provide a vital new alternative to the West Gate Bridge and offer more travel options to and from Melbourne's west.
The West Gate Tunnel will be electronically tolled. To avoid additional fees on top of tolls, make sure you have an active tolling account or pass before you travel.
