Plan ahead for the 2026 Sydney Marathon

The Sydney Marathon is back on Sunday 31 August, so you might need to change your travel plans on the day.

What you need to know

Major roads around Sydney will be closed, including:

  • Sydney Harbour Bridge, Cahill Expressway and Western Distributor from 3am to 11am
  • Macquarie St and Oxford St from 4am to 4pm/4.30pm

We’re working with event organisers to minimise disruptions and make sure roads are re-opened quickly and safely.

Drive toll-free on the day

To keep Sydney motorists moving during the event, the Cross City Tunnel will be toll-free from 5.00am to 4.30pm on race day. If you travel before or after those times, standard toll pricing applies.
