Quicker trips with West Gate Tunnel
Did you know that for the same toll price, there are now two routes for travel between West Gate Freeway and CityLink/Tullamarine Fwy:
- West Gate Tunnel, or
- Bolte Bridge and West Gate Bridge
With West Gate Tunnel, you can skip the West Gate Bridge and Bolte Bridge, save time and enjoy smooth new connections including:
- A shorter route between the West Gate Freeway and M2 CityLink/Tullamarine Freeway towards Melbourne Airport and the northern suburbs
- A way to bypass the Bolte Bridge and West Gate Bridge
- More choice to suit traffic, timing and your day
If you’re driving a car, motorcycle or light commercial vehicle, your trip price is the same whether you choose the Bolte or go via West Gate Tunnel when connecting to or from CityLink.

Head west with the West Gate Tunnel
There are four new connections to take drivers from the city to West Gate Tunnel and beyond:
- CityLink – for the northern suburbs
- Dynon Rd – for the inner north, and beyond to the north-eastern suburbs; and
- Wurundjeri Way and Footscray Rd – for Docklands and the CBD
As you exit the tunnel, you’ll join West Gate Freeway just before Millers Road.
Take West Gate Tunnel to the city
Choose West Gate Tunnel lanes while on the M80 Ring Road or Princes Fwy.
Or join West Gate Freeway inbound at Grieve Parade or Millers Road.
Once through the tunnel, you have four city connection choices:
CityLink – for the northern suburbs
- Dynon Rd – for the inner north, and beyond to the north-eastern suburbs; and
- Wurundjeri Way and Footscray Rd – for Docklands and the CBD
An AM Peak toll applies to cars, motorcycles and light commercial vehicles that use the Footscray Rd, Wurundjeri Way or Dynon Rd exits heading inbound from West Gate Tunnel Monday to Friday 7-9am except Public Holidays.
