Unpaid trip notifications and toll invoices
How we notify you about unpaid trips
If you travel on CityLink or the West Gate Tunnel without an active account or pass, we will send a formal toll invoice in the mail to the vehicle's registered owner.
To help you avoid escalating administration fees and potential infringement fines, we may also send digital reminders via email and SMS.
Why account holders receive toll invoices
Even if you have a Linkt account, you will receive a toll invoice if:
-
Your account was suspended or had a negative balance when you travelled.
-
The vehicle you were driving wasn't linked to your account.
The toll invoice and reminder timeline
If an unpaid trip is not resolved, here is how it can escalate:
-
First toll invoice: Sent by post to the registered owner within 4 weeks of travel, including your toll charges plus an administrative fee ($16.13).
-
Final toll invoice: If unpaid, a final invoice is posted with an additional administrative fee ($31.49).
-
Enforcement action: If the final invoice remains unpaid, the matter may be referred to a debt collection agency or Victoria Police, who can issue an infringement notice (fine). Once Victoria Police issues a fine, Linkt cannot cancel or withdraw it.

How to spot a genuine Linkt notification
Scammers often send fake text messages or emails claiming you have an "overdue trip notice."
-
Check the sender: Genuine Linkt digital reminders are sent from noreply@billing.linkt.com.au or from the SMS sender name Linkt.
-
We never ask for payment details via text links: Linkt will never send an SMS or email asking you to click a link to input credit card, banking, or password details.
-
Always verify your account status directly at linkt.com.au or via the official Linkt app.
If you are experiencing financial difficulty and cannot pay your tolls, contact Linkt Assist for confidential support.
