From 15 December 2025, NSW Motorways will send unpaid toll reminder emails to registered vehicle owners when a trip on a NSW toll road hasn't been paid. Emails are typically sent three to four days after travel and may arrive up to six days later.
The reminder email isn’t a fine or a toll notice, it's designed to provide an early prompt before a toll notice is issued and administration fees are added. You will not be charged for receiving this reminder email.
The unpaid toll reminder emails are part of broader efforts to simplify tolling and reduce unnecessary costs for drivers.
Who are NSW Motorways? Why are they sending the notifications?
NSW Motorways was established by the NSW Government to help create a fairer tolling system and improve transparency for motorists. As part of this, NSW Motorways manages enforcement for unpaid tolls under state legislation and have the registration and licencing information needed to issue the emails. While NSW Motorways send the unpaid toll notifications, toll payments are managed by providers such as Linkt or E-Toll.
Received an email? Here’s what you need to do.
If you've received an unpaid toll notification email, you need to pay for your trips within 10 days of travel.
Find out how to pay using your existing Linkt account, search and pay for trips, or open a new Linkt account.
If trips aren't paid within 10 days, a toll notice will be mailed to the registered vehicle owner. Toll notices include the toll cost plus a $10 administration fee per toll road used. If it isn’t paid by the due date, a final notice with more fees will be mailed.
Scams and online safety
Security is a top priority, and as such, these notifications don't include links to external websites. Legitimate emails will be sent from NSW Motorways, using the email address notifications@motorways.nsw.gov.au. To pay, always visit the Linkt or E-Toll website to search for your unpaid trips.
If you think you’ve received a suspicious email or SMS, don’t click links or reply. You can also report a scam via our website.
Support and contact
If you’re experiencing financial difficulty, Linkt Assist can help with confidential support including payment options. You can also use Service NSW resources if your matter has progressed to a toll notice.
