Overview of toll rebate and cashback schemes
The type of toll rebate that’s best for you will depend on which roads you use the most often and your eligibility for each scheme.
There are currently three schemes to reduce your toll costs in NSW:
- Toll Relief, which includes:
- M5 South-West Cashback
- Large Towed Recreational Vehicle Toll Rebate
Toll Relief - Rebate
Eligible motorists who spend more than $375 a year on tolls can claim a 40% rebate of up to $750. The toll rebate can be claimed by personal toll account holders who have an active NSW personal Linkt Tag or Tagless account (Sydney Pass, LinktGO, and Commercial account customers are not eligible).
You can choose to claim once per quarter or wait until the end of the financial year. You have one year after the financial year ends to claim (toll spend between 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023, can be claimed up to 30 June 2024). You cannot claim the rebate for toll spend on the M5 South-West if you claim the M5 South-West cashback scheme.

M5 South-West Cashback
The M5 South-West Cashback Scheme allows you to claim back the cost of tolls paid (excluding GST and other fees) on the M5 South-West Motorway only. This scheme doesn't apply to trips on any other toll roads, including the M5 East and WestConnex M4.
To claim M5 Cashback you need to pay your M5 tolls using your Linkt tag or tagless account registered for M5 South-West Cashback. You aren't eligible for the M5 cashback scheme if you claim under the Toll Relief - Rebate.
