How can we help?

Overview of toll rebate and cashback schemes

The type of toll rebate that’s best for you will depend on which roads you use most often and your eligibility for each scheme.

There are currently five schemes to reduce your toll costs in NSW.

They include:

  • Toll Weekly Cap
  • NSW Toll Rebate
  • M5 South-West Cashback
  • Large Towed Recreational Vehicle Toll Rebate
  • Truck Multiplier Rebate for M5 East and M8

You may be eligible for both the Toll Weekly Cap and the Toll Rebate.

Refer to the sections below for more information about each scheme.

  • Toll Weekly Cap

This is a $60 weekly toll cap that commenced from 1 January 2024.

    To be eligible, you must:

    • Be a NSW resident
    • Spend more than $60 a week on tolls (up to a maximum of $400) for each tag (or for each licence plate number if you have a tagless account)
    • Have an active (not suspended or closed) NSW personal toll account such as Linkt or E-Toll
    • Have already paid for the tolls
    • Have accrued the tolls on a vehicle that's privately registered in NSW, and is below 2794kgs TARE weight
    • Have travelled on an eligible NSW toll road

The rebate will be open until 30 June 2024 (for the financial year ending 30 June 2023).

Eligible motorists who spend more than $402 (in the financial year ending 30 June 2024) can claim a 40% rebate of up to $803 a year. The rebate will be open until 30 June 2025 (for the financial year ending 30 June 2024).

  • M5 South-West Cashback

Eligible NSW residents can receive a rebate every quarter for trips on the M5 South-West Motorway.

You need to have a registered Tag or Tagless account to claim the M5 South-West Cashback. If you are signing up for a new account online you will be automatically registered for cashback. If you have an existing account you will need to register.

We’ll email you when your Quarterly Cashback Statement is ready. You can then lodge your cashback claim online via your Linkt account (applications are not available via the Linkt app).

If you claim this Cashback, trips taken on the M5 South-West Motorway are not counted towards the Weekly Toll Cap and Toll Rebate schemes.

  • Large Towed Recreational Vehicle Toll Rebate

The Large Towed Recreational Vehicle Toll Rebate (LTRVTR) is a rebate for vehicles towing a boat trailer, large caravan or horse float.

The LTRVTR brings the cost of tolls back to your original vehicle class when this happens. This means you will be charged for your original vehicle class, saving you any additional cost for towing on toll roads.

The rebate is available for all Sydney toll roads, except for the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Harbour Tunnel.

  • Truck Multiplier Rebate for M5 East and M8

Trucks using the M5 East and M8 will benefit from a new rebate from 1 January 2024.

The Truck Multiplier Rebate applies to all NSW and interstate registered trucks that travel on the M5 East and M8 with a valid E-Toll, Linkt or Eastlink account.

These trucks will receive a rebate of one third of their trip travelled on the M5 East and M8.

Heavy Vehicles (Class B) that travel on the M8 and M5 East from 1 January 2024 will automatically receive the truck multiplier rebate as a credit to the relevant Linkt account from April 2024.
