M5 South-West Cashback Scheme

The M5 South-West Cashback Scheme is a NSW Government initiative. Eligible drivers can claim back tolls for trips on the M5 South-West Motorway, excluding GST and other fees. The Cashback Scheme does not apply to trips on any other toll roads, including the M5 East and WestConnex M4. 

Who is eligible for the M5 South-West Cashback?

You are eligible for the Cashback refund if:

  1. you are a NSW resident
  2. you have registered your Tag or Tagless account for Cashback
  3. you have submitted your claim within 12 months of the close of the Cashback quarter
  4. your vehicle is registered in NSW for private, pensioner or charitable use


These types of vehicle are not eligible for Cashback:

  • government or business registered vehicles
  • vehicles provided as part of a salary package (company vehicle)
  • leased vehicles
  • rented vehicles
  • smash repair courtesy vehicles
  • car dealership loan vehicles
  • interstate registered vehicles
  • any other vehicle registered as a business vehicle (e.g., 'business general' or 'primary producer')

How to claim the M5 South-West Cashback

You need to have a registered Tag or Tagless account to claim the M5 South-West Cashback. If you are signing up for a new account online you will be automatically registered for cashback. If you have an existing account you will need to register.

Transport for NSW (TfNSW) pays M5 South-West Cashback rebates on a quarterly basis. At the end of each Cashback quarter, we share the details of your M5 South-West trips with TfNSW, and issue your Cashback statement.  

For former E-way customers
With E-way, your Cashback and account statements came bundled together. With Linkt, we issue a separate Cashback statement at the end of each quarter.

Claim online

To easily pay for tolls and claim the M5 South-West Cashback, open an account.

Once you've registered for the M5 South-West Cashback Scheme, the quickest way to claim your rebate is online.

We'll email you when your quarterly Cashback statement is ready. Then you can use your computer or mobile device to lodge a claim.

  1. Using your mobile device, log in to your Linkt account. 
  2. Select Cashback and rebates from the drop-down menu at the top of the screen. This may look a little different depending on your device operating system and browser.

  3. On the Cashback and rebates screen, select Submit a claim

  4. A secure Transport for NSW (TfNSW) Cashback Online Claim site will open. Follow the steps on the TfNSW website to submit your claim online.

  1. Log in to your Linkt account
  2. Click Cashback and rebates in the menu

  3. On the Cashback and rebates screen, Select Submit a claim

  4. A secure Transport for NSW (TfNSW) Cashback Online Claim site will open in a new window. Follow the steps on the TfNSW website to submit your claim online.

Unfortunately you cannot directly submit a Cashback claim via the Linkt app. 

If you search for Cashback using the Linkt App, you may find you have been directed to the Linkt website where you can use your mobile device to complete the steps required as detailed under mobile on this page.
