Toll pricing
The West Gate Tunnel will be electronically tolled when it opens later this year.
You’ll need an active tolling account or pass to travel on the West Gate Tunnel. Learn more about opening a Linkt account.
If you have an active tag, it will only beep when you are charged. Learn more about tag beeps.
Toll prices are based on:
- Your vehicle class
- Which toll points you travel through
- Time of day (applies to AM peak toll only)
Look out for the on-road signs which show the vehicle class that is tolled. Learn more about vehicle classes.
The West Gate Bridge and West Gate Freeway remain free for motorcycles, cars and light commercial vehicles.
Below are the toll points for light vehicles. Note: The toll point on the West Gate Freeway between Millers and Williamstown roads only applies for heavy vehicles like trucks and buses.

Prices shown are what customers would pay if they're travelling on the toll road as at quarter ending 31 December 2025, in anticipation of the West Gate Tunnel opening in late 2025.
AM peak toll
The AM Peak toll only applies for motorcycles, cars and light commercial vehicle, and is additional to the West Gate Tunnel toll.
This toll will help improve traffic flow and congestion into the city during the peak morning period.
If you’re heading to the city via the West Gate Tunnel, you’ll notice that the City West exits of Footscray Road, Wurundjeri Way and Dynon Road will be tolled from Monday to Friday (excluding Victorian public holidays) between 7am-9am.
If you use these exits during this weekday peak, you’ll see an extra toll charge on your trip history.
If you travel on these exits outside of 7am-9am, your tag will not beep and there’s no charge.

Common journeys
One Linkt account, one trip
If you travel on the West Gate Tunnel and CityLink in one continuous trip, you will only be charged once on your Linkt account.
How to pay for travel
You have a variety of ways to pay when you travel on the West Gate Tunnel and other toll roads.
A Linkt account can cover you for travel on any toll road around Australia, including the West Gate Tunnel. You can also buy a pass if you’re only travelling occasionally.
